Default Rag Joint Install and Rebuild

Been searching for pics of how to install a rebuild kit. New kit has no instructions, none online from various vendors either..Jim Shea, AIM, no help too..

Also correct orientation to the steering box, like which sides do the pins go..was butchered by PO. I have the wheel and pittman arm centered ok...

66 non tele..thanks guys!!

Yes Sir....thanks! It seems to be missing the ground strap though..shocking

I am assuming that the direction of the pins does not matter either...

The ground in that one is interwoven in the rag material and doesn't need the ground strap.

Don't think this is accurate. Ground strap still required but it isn't visible because it is inside the hole.

On the replacement rag joint in the picture that I purchased from LIC a few years back has no ground strap anywhere, it is incorporated into the rag joint connection itself. Since I just went with a Borgeson conversion I actually just looked at it in my garage. Also looking at it, its seems the pins could face in either direction but I believe the way the pic shows is the way most folks do it.

The rag joint came as part of the steering gear assembly from Saginaw Steering Gear, with the nuts facing the steering gear and the ends of the pins facing the firewall.

If your rebuild kit uses bolts as opposed to rivets, and the supplied bolts aren't shouldered...

Grind the 'pin' part off of your old 'pins' and use them in lieu of the unshouldered, supplied bolts.
