Fresh Air Vent Cables
I have a 66 that is a race car. It has no heater now and I would like to reloecate the fresh air vent controls to the center of the dash where the heater controls used to reside. My first attempt was to use the defrost control cable but it is too short to reach the side vents.
I need a cable assembly that mounts in a hole that is a little longer than the 66 style defrost control. I can't quite tell on the 67's if the fresh air cable might work for my application?
Any thpughts or creative ideas would be welcome.
Thanks, Cris

why not buy/use the 'long' fresh air control cable to make up the length needed to reach either side?

Im not sure what long cable you are talking about. I need a cable that mounts through a hole, not the underdash bracket style that was used 63-66. Is there a long through-hole mount cable? These assemblies are swaged together so they are diffiicult to modify.
Thanks Cris

Take the innards out of the fresh air and put in the heater cable...or..take the **** off of each and put on the long fresh air cable

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the 65, 66 a/c cars have a fresh air cable that mounts in the center dash to operate the passenger side vent. It mounts in the lower left just above the radio **** and also has the fan switch on it. On a non a/c car it's the pull for heat position, but on a/c the cable goes to the passenger vent.

That's very close to what I am looking for! Though I could do without the switch. Hopefully we'll get some 67 owners to let me know what the fresh air cable looks like on their cars. I need a through hole mount cable that is around 42" long.
Thanks, Cris

67 fresh air cables mount to the radio side panels. I would not think they would be long enough to make it to the dash by the heater *****.

You can remove the switch or just leave it disconnected.

Thanks for the inputs. I'm trying to get as close as I can to the correct part before I look at alternatives. Right now I like 66GGvert's solution the best. Before I go that route, I'd like to see what the '67 fresh air vent cables look like.
Where are all the '67 guys???
Thanks, Cris

The 66 heater *****, attach with a set screw. By cutting the loop off the end of the cable, you could possibly attach the **** to the cable, with the set screw. The diameter of the cable, is a lot smaller than the shaft of the 66 heater cable, but you might be able to make it work?
Here is a link to the 68-76 cables, at Corvette Central.
