Looking for Source for Inverted Flare Brass Seats (1/4 inch)
Anyone know of a source for inverted flare brass seats for power steering control valves? Maybe a brake master cylinder part number might interchange. The GM part was discontinued years ago.

Mike, I've got a hunch you are looking for a steel fitting because of the extreme pressure of power steering systems.
I've got the NAPA/Weatherhead fitting and hose catalogs. If you can tell me what male threads and what hose fitting threads you need, I'll see what I can find.

Hi Jim - Finally got one of the old seats removed. They are brass after all and I think the old GM part number referred to a 1/4-inch fitting. Three of the 4 fittings are this smaller size with the last one being larger.
Thanks,

Mike, sorry to say my Weatherhead catalog doesn't show anything that looks like the brass seat in your picture. Is there any way you could refurbish what you have? Being brass, if it's leaking you could probably have a machine shop refinish the sealing surface.

Thanks guys, I had a feeling these wouldn't be a common item to find in our vendors catalogs but figured they have to be available somewhere since they'd be needed by the companies refurbishing the control valves. I have a 'few' spare control valves and the seal kits for them but thought I'd try to find a source for the brass seats since most of them are dinged up pretty good. Granted, the brass will conform to the steel flared line but would rather start with 'ungouged' seats if possible. Thanks again, Mike T.

One other thought, Mike.... That's a simple looking part. It wouldn't be difficult for a machine shop to fabricate one (or many, if you want spares) out of brass stock.
