Default Detroit Speed Installing Headlight Motors on my Car

I dropped the Corvette off at Detroit Speed to have their new headlight motors installed. Since they are only 30 miles or so from my house, I talked with them last week about having them install the motors. I figured if there is a glitch on this all new product then they would be in the best position to solve it. Mine will be the first one of the production kits installed.

As usual, everyone is super friendly there. Today my buddy Reese and I met Stacy Tucker who personally thanked me for purchasing their product. I told her that I had been very happy to hear they were producing the kit as I knew from first hand experience that their products were high quality. I had installed their wiper motor on my Pro-Touring Camaro and my son and I installed their Quadra Link rear suspension on his '69 Camaro. They have already sold 34 of the first 50 kits produced. They are offering $50 off the normal kit price through the end of April.

Below are some photos showing my car in front of their sign and the kit. On the last photo, notice the handle on the urinal. These are serious car people!!!!

So explain if you would. You no longer have the headlight motors? Now with the $50.00 oof the price was installed? Do they operate at the same speed and how long did it take them to install there equitment. Would it be hard for a guy to install it his self?

Here's a funny one - I was JUST reading this thread when I got a notification from Detroit Speed that MY H/L kit had shipped! Coincidence? I don't THINK so...

Considering the price of OE headlight motors - it might be even trade in value for these new style!

Will the control unit, or what ever it is on the right, require drilling for mounting?

Mike,

I will let you know soon. I hope to have mine by the weekend, but it might be the first part of next week. Yes, they go up fast and are well co-ordinated. They also have a slip clutch on the drive, so you can manually open or close them, without operating the little wheel on the back of the motor for a thousand turns. It looks like a job that almost anybody can do. DSE hit a real home run with this item! no more holding the switch waiting for the headlights to roll up or down. You just turn on the headlights, and the buckets roll up automatically. Turn the headlights off, and they roll down! Let's not forget that Jeff (1coolC2) did all the original design work on this setup. He is a real fabricator!

Regards, John McGraw

Ordered my new headlight kit from Detroit Speed last week. Today I received UPS notification that my new headlights will be delivered Friday. Checked the tracking number and they are in route.

No drilling for anything, the controller uses the same holes as the hood release handle

I dropped the car off this afternoon. They are doing the installation tomorrow morning. The $50 off has nothing to do with installation costs.

Still a little confused.

Pull the switch and the headlights open and lights go on. Do the parking lights stay on?
Can you pull out the switch, 1st. detent, and have only the parking lamps on with out the buckets open or lights on?
Can you have headlights on without parking lights on?

It appears that when you turn on the parking lamps the buckets flip up.

Prepare for the ebay market to be slammed with original headlamp motors, soon to be worth very little. Hope nobody was planning on breaking even by selling their original motors.
