My father's car after he graduated from West Point and before my mother sold it when he was in Vietnam. At the time they lived in a trailer park...

Here is one Kermudgeon found... neat!

The kid sitting on the fender is John Tyno. It is his car and picture was taken on Ward St. in Trenton, Mi. I worked with him on the DT&I Railroad when we both were on summer break from college. He drove the Vette to work everyday.

Default Shelby in a corvette?

MAY 19, 1957 AT CUMBERLAND MARYLAND SCCA REGIONAL RACES. Carroll Shelby raced E.B. Rose's 1957 Black with ''Rose cove''. Carroll is on the left in his overalls.

HERE HE IS TESTING THE CAR BEFORE THE RACE. Dr. Dick Thompson was 1st, Shelby was 2nd, and Steve Howe was 3rd. Carroll raced Corvettes in Texas in 1957 only two other times.

MEADOWDALE RACEWAY track which operated from 1958 to 1969. It was 3.27 mile road course located in Carpentersville near Chicago. This is JIM JEFFORDS in the ''PURPLE PEOPLE EATER'' NICKEY CHEVROLET car chassing the unknown # 2 Corvette. Appears to be an abondoned Austin Healey # 8 up on the ridge.

Default Jim jeffords

Jim Jeffords was a famous Corvette race driver in the 50's. He is a good friend of mine today and I am honored to know him. He was 86 last December 10.

1957 SEBRING CAR he bought ''AFTER'' the race and drove it home.

AT MILWAUKEE LABOR DAY WEEKEND 1957

MONTGOMERY, NEW YORK AUGUST 1958 WITH 1958 ''PURPLE PEOPLE EATER 2''.

RIVERSIDE JULY 1959 WHERE HE LOST TO BOB BONDURANT DUE TO A HUGE WRECK. JIM WAS UPSET THAT DAY. HE STILL WON THE B/P SCCA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOTH 1958 AND 1959.

Second owner of my car. Apparently matching tires were not an issue back then.

Launching the split window:

Dad was pretty proud of the '63. He was the second owner. Think he bought it in late '63. Note rubber on rear fender:

I liked it too:

Later in the decade---same car. And I'm hamming it up in the picture:

In '79 my father bought this '71 LT-1:

Me hamming again. Man I wasn't that bad looking. You should see me now---sheesh:

Had to throw this in:
