Default 58-62 courtesy light switch location? What is correct?

Were is the correct location for the courtesy light switches on 58-62 cars ?
I have seen the switch in two different locations. Some have the switch just below the vin plate and some have the switch near the top of the door jam.

The switch just below the VIN tag on a '60-'62 car would be something to see.

Need to revive this post...I am putting in the courtesy switches on my '58 and like many things on this car I assume they have been altered. The drivers side is diamond shaped and the passenger side is round. Any help on the correct layout is appreciated.

thanks Kurt

I know that the diamond shaped is correct for both sides with the button being brown not black (can't tell if yours is black or brown). I believe the black button was for passenger cars.

Oh I definitely agree. im just wondering where they even found a switch like this. It looks like it was made for the car. It's not functional but I'm sure it was put in so you could turn the light on while driving if you wanted to look at something in the dark. Kind of neat actually. I'm just hopeful the switch isn't bad because idk how I'd replace it.
