Default A couple C1 Master Cylinder Questions

Getting ready to send off a few pieces for rebuilding, one of which is the master cylinder for my 1960 Corvette Restoration Project. I find that I have 2 large 022 master cylinders, definately don't want to send off the wrong one to be rebuilt.
1. Are the large 022 master cylinders dated in any way so that there might be a difference as to which one I have rebuilt?

2. Have you had a good experience with anyone in particular that rebuilds the C1 master cylinders. I like to do business with my own kind of people, so would gladly support a fellow forum member that has done good work for you!

Thank You for your help!

Master Cylinder caps are both metal.

They did my 1960 Corvette last Spring. 2 week turnaround and cost was about $175.00
No problems since.

There are a few more good companies that do this work, but Apple is a very good choice.

probably more important than trying to figure out date codes is to make sure the front plug is designated for a corvette. look for a g on the front plug. a h is for a buick and originally would have had a different connecting linkage on the back of the master cylinder. service replacements have blank plugs and by the early 60s were being sold with plastic caps. many service replacements had the last two numbers of the year the service replacement was made between the two slashed circles.

Took mine to a small local machine shop and asked if they could do it. Went with stainless steel and no problems. Cost $65 and I put the kit in myself. Changed over to DOT-5 while at it.

The original m/c for my Dec. '58-assembled '59 is dated 10168. This is at the front of the cylinder under the large 022.

Thank you to all of you for your suggestions and tips! I plan to go over to my garage over lunch hour and see what the specifics are on my two master cylinders. I will post this afternoon what I find out!

I went over to the garage over the lunch hour and both do indeed have the G, along with the 5454480, so that is good! One is dated January 22, 1959 and the other is dated February 23, 1960. I will plan on having the second one rebuilt as my Corvette is a May 1960. Thanks again for your help!
