Default Shift Boot for tremec conversion???

I just went to put my original style shift boot over the shifter on the tremec 5 speed conversion and realized that it will not work due to the location of the bolts where the "look a like" shifter attaches.

What does everybody use for a shift boot with these conversions?

Thanks!

You can read what I did for my '61 starting at post #11 in this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...-the-61-a.html

I have no clue if it will work on a C2.

The pictures in the thread are HUGE for some reason. I know some C2 owners have found fairly nice looking
leather boots for their cars

Default Boot

I used the original boot in my 66 with the Tremec. I did buy the transmission and shifter from Hurst Driveline. I also switched to the stock looking shifter handle. Jerry

I also used my stock boot with the "stock looking" handle from Hurst Driveline. Worked fine.

Stock boot here.

Got to clean up the interior and repaint the console but the stock boot fits.

Are you using an American Power Train Tremec and their Lightning shifter?

crunch527,

If your question is directed at me, it's a Keisler SS700 close ratio 5 speed.

Original C2 shift boot fits just fine on my Tremec, no problem lining up holes.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, i have the american powertrain conversion. The stock boot will not fit due to the location of the bolts on the shifter(too high), so i am going to need to look for an aftermarket leather boot or one from a late model car.

I have the Keisler TKO-600 (2nd design shifter) with the stock boot on the '64.

Me too. I know what you are talking about though. When i put it on, I had to pull it a bit to get it over the bolts. I used a new boot. After awhile, it stretched a bit and fits perfectly now.
