What a great spot for a photo!!!
Was out and about the other day and came across this old gas station.. Thought it would be a great spot to stop and take a picture.

To an old fart like me the gas station looks fairly modern, but I guess it's all relative.
Fantastic looking Vette. I'm happy as can be with my C-4 but part of me REALLY wants to get back into a C-2 - bad! The more I see one that looks like yours, the worse the craving gets!

Gas stations
I love the car, especially the color. In 1970 when I worked at our local gas station, the old mechanical pumps could not go over .99 a gallon. Gas was .29 a gallon and we gave out S&H Green stamps. We also gave away glasses. I had two complete sets of glasses from the NY Jets and the NY Giants. The gas station is long gone, and the Giants play in NJ. I lost track of where the Jets play. My son asked me what the metal spout I have in the garage was used for. I told him it was used to poke a hole in a metal oil can and allow you to pour oil in the crank case without spilling it. How many of you still have stuff like that collecting dust in your garage? Jerry

Those were the days. I remember paying .19/gal in 1963. Also remember the Green Stamps and also Top Value Stamps along with the drinking glasses. Not to mention someone pumping your gas for you, washing your windshield, and checking your tires and oil.
Today, I feel lucky if the "pay at the pump" function works.

There's a whole generation of folks who have known nothing but inside-release hood latches. In the "old days", almost all cars had the latch on the outside only. All service stations did the gas pumping FOR you, and they would - without being asked - open your hood and check your oil while the gas was going in. They'd wash your windshield too.
It was fun once in a while you'd have some kid who did not know a Vette had the release inside - he'd be reaching, fumbling and peering through the grille trying to figure how it opened!
And until a few years ago I DID have one of those old oil spouts in the garage. I probably should not have tossed it out, probably will be worth something one of these days.

We still have stations like that here.
Love that colour, car looks great.
Isn't your grill supposed to be hung up in the middle with that tab?

Anyone remember these? They were used for the windshield wiping rags before squeegees. I remember them sitting at the pumps. They are pretty rare nowadays, they were way too easy to chuck in the garbage when squeegees were invented. I am going to restore this one "someday" ....

The customer was absolutely not allowed to pump his own gas!
