Default Booster to valve cover clearance

I ordered a set of reproduction original style valve covers and a new power brake booster for a 66 BB. It is the smashed corner valve covers. When I installed the power brake booster it is against the covers. Well this isn't gonna work of course. Any suggestions on why this happening or how to fix it. Thanks! Brandon

It appears to be the same or the old one. It measures 9". Not so sure now. I can't find any difference in the old one and new one.

Sounds like you have the correct one.....do you have different, "NOT STOCK" motor mounts....?
I'm fishing for answers, just to let you know.

Actually I do have polyuerethane motor mounts? The old valve covers were non- stock that had the corner cut and welded on the inside. How much clearance is needed between the booster and cover. Guess I could always cut and weld the inside. Hate to do that though.

I just measured mine, which has the re-man covers from ZIP, and it measured .75 inches.

Are you sure the valve covers are no taller than your others. I bought a set of aftermarket covers once and had the same problem. They where for my 66 BB. They where stock looking stamped steel with the notch. After going through the same thing you are I set the covers next to each other and found the new ones where taller. I wound up finding a set of OEM ones.

Won't hurt to check.

I don't know if I have a set of oem. I had a set of aftermarket which the original owner had cut the corner and welded. I am gonna try to find some specs on the height of oem covers

Folks I hate to admit it. After seeing that picture I realized mine didn't have enough slant. So I went and dug through my shop and found an original one and it slid right on to the head and cleared the booster. Brilliant! This is what I get for buying something that was probably made in china. Well I only had the crushed one so I have to keep the Chinese set for the other side. Thanks for all the help! Brandon
