Rare 1967 l-88 sells !!
ONLY 20 of the 1967 Corvettes made had the L-88 engine.
Last evening, KEVIN MACKAY, well known east coast restorer and collector purchased the DOUG DEWER car that he owned for 37 years. We lost Doug in 2010. The family is very happy this car is going to a good home.
1967 #17527 L-88 convertible, one of 20 cars made, was sold originally to John Peter Hill of Huntington Park, California.
The selling dealer was DANA Chevrolet, 8730 Long Beach Blvd., South Gate, California 90260. The selling salesman was Dick Guldstrand. The handwritten purchase order is dated 3-29-67. Many pieces of documentation are with the car
John owned and raced the car in A/P Class in California events and sold it in late August 1970.
The 2nd owner RON CASSILE raced the car until it was involved in a fiery crash crash at RIVERSIDE on March 28, 1980. DOUG purchased the car in the summer of 1980.
The Car race number 92, Roll bar SCCA #19-818. The car has received the NCRS Heritage Award and many others over the years.

Geez guys, short of the car being sold at a public auction, this feels like a private sale and as such the sales price is not for us to hunt down, is it?

Jeff you be correct as normal but you have to admit, it would be interesting to know. Glad it went to a good home as it is a piece of automobile history.......

Jim,
Can't think of anyone better to bring that car back to life than Kevin. Hopefully he will share the restoration progress pictures.

....is this a real one??? Seems as if 137 1967 L-88s have come forth in the last 20yrs or so...
...I was at an NCRS Chapter meet in Pa many years ago and a Red '67 L-88 tanker coupe was there to be judged...all original and everything...
