Default It's All Back Together

I've got the engine all back together on the '64 and have included some pictures that show the Header Power Bracket alternator mount in place. I put this in a separate thread so those who were not, or no longer, following the other thread could see the end result. It is easy to see why it has been well received by all as there has never been anything like this offered in the past.

Plenty of room for the bolts.

I did the front side in ceramic aluminum to match the headers, but did the back in black to match the valve covers when seen from the passenger's side of the engine bay.

Turned out nicely. Do you have a pic of the part of the bracket the actual alternator bolts to, I dont think I have seen that. There is 3 pieces right? The bracket that mounts to the head, a spacer, and then I guess a bracket that goes on the other side of the spacer that the alternator mounts to. Like to see that, unless I misunderstand the whole concept.

Two pieces. That piece is produced by many others and any of them will work.

Great work

I've got a question, do you have any problem with the fan belt digging into the upper radiator hose under torque/rpm?

Steve

No not at all. The hose is way above the belt.

I use one of the angled aluminum thermostat housings similar to this.

Finding the premolded hose that would be an exact fit was the hard part.

I bend a piece of wire to shape and took it over to the autoparts store back in the day when they would let you go though the inventory until I found an exact fit. The part # is 71738 which is a Dayco upper radiator hose intended for a Ryder Truck.

MillerSpeed. Car Craft found 10 hp on the dyno at 5,500 RPM using the system. The guy even brought the system out to the house and we installed it together in my garage.

Looks fantastic!

2 questions:

1-Where was the alt the arm bracket sourced?
2-How about a power steering bracket below - your next project?

If you are referring to the two J-bars, that's just what they are, regular aftermarket J-bars, probably from Mr. Gasket.

I used aluminum spacers, polished on the drill press, drilled out for the larger bolts to hold the two bars secure.

If you want to do that, be fore warned that there is a wide variation between these bars from piece to piece, even from the same manufactuer. You want to find two that are very similar so they don't bind the alternator when you adjust the travel. I went through several at the speed shop getting two to match.

No plans for the power steering holes.

Thanks

Wow, a 2 cylinder small block, cool! Nice system, like a blower belt.

IIRC, it is actually a timing belt for a piece of heavy equipment. It is not a "Gilmer cog" pattern nor is it straight ribbed.
