The size and font of the VIN number(s) are not typical. They should be slightly smaller than the engine stamping numbers, and the "0" should be more oval in shape.
Hard to see and evaluate the engine assembly stamp from the picture.
GM did not stamp this block.

Prefrance or Postfrance?
It's a beautiful car. There is a lot of owner Prefrance in it.

That second one looks suspicious to me. It's got a black dot over a couple of the numbers. Factory didn't do that.....

The fonts are not always the same as you can see in this picture the zero and the "O" are different.
John Hinkley posted this picture some time ago and it shows the wide verity of fonts that was used and as John said the person stamping the pad could have cared less if the fonts matched.

I commented on the VIN stamping and the size/font........not on the engine assembly stamping.
I have seen and judged MANY original blocks where the engine assembly stamping fonts were different or mixed, but I have never seen a VIN stamping for a mid-year (done at St Louis) where the font was larger and different than what I consider typical.
If you have pictures of a documented, original mid-year that has a VIN stamp anywhere close to what is shown in the first picture, please post it up for me and the others to learn. Otherwise I will continue to believe that the mid-year VIN stampings were all consistant in size and font.
