I am having the same issue with with a delco remy 1112050 in a 1971. Having some hesitation off the line, so decided to check the timing. With vacuum advance disconnected and plugged it had 12 initial, then all in at like 1800 rpm with total of 22. Only have 10 mechanical advance! I did the rubber band thing too, and its not advancing at idle. I took the bushing off the limit pin but haven't had a chance to recheck yet. Was wondering if I could make the slot longer for more advance if needed? Has anyone tried this?

A 1112050 distributor has the following OEM ignition map.

0º @ 865 RPM
2º @ 1335
11º @ 2400
18º @ 4200

This map is rather lazy and could be recurved for better performance.

Would I be better off buying a new HEI or rebuilding the one I have? I'm not concerned with keeping the stock look. Do you have a ballpark of what it would cost to have the Delco Remy rebuilt or recurved?

Whether you use your old distributor or a new HEI you still need an optimized ignition map setup. The fella I use is very reasonable and charged me about $60 which included stock weights, springs and an autocam. He took it apart cleaned , lube & shimmed the drive gear end play and recurved the map on a SUN 404 machine. I supplied the points, condenser, VAC & rotor.

$60 seem very resonable. So will he be able to recurve it so I will have 12* initial and 36* total? Where is he located? I saw some cheap HEI's with the tach drive on ebay. One was made by SBC for $70 and another by CRT performance for $109. Ever heard anthing about these?
