Default 1959 Windshield, 4-speed, and FI

Where is the best place to buy a dated 1959 windshield for my car.
Car was built first week of February, 1959.
Any windshield vendors at Carlisle?
Also looking for a 4-speed dated before February, 1959 and a
250 HP Fuel injection unit for the same car.. thanks, jim

I'm curious too, my '56 has a replacement windshield and I'm told on the NCRS forum that non of the repros come close to the original. I know it will be a needle in a hay stack finding a dated original but I'm patient

I have a reproduction, date coded windshield in my '61 and have parked beside survivor cars and can see no difference in the fit or form of the windshield and the date codes looked exactly alike.
Here is one place you can try: http://www.pilkington.com/The+Americ...cs/default.htm

An original windshield, if you have the good fortune to find one, will probably have the pits and scratches that a 50+ year old part would naturally get over time...

Someone USED to make windshields with the tinted band across the top of the glass. Anyone know if those are still available? The next time I pull the windshield off the 56, I want to put one of those back on.

I noticed you are somewhat close to bloomington. Forget finding an original glass. Most of these are not worth it. Once, I found a 57 corvette windshield in chicago area and it was really pitted. The windshield wipers would scratch the glass when the blades were gone. Most of the people selling the old glass is because they replaced the original glass.

There is a company called OEM glass in bloomington Il. He can get you a correct dated windshield. Plus, you do not have to pay the shipping for 100.00 to 150.00.

I was told he has some really cool cars in his shop.

Auto city glass should be at Carlisle. Very nice people. They also sell gas tanks. I know they shipped my gas tank for free when I bought it at Carlisle. Not sure about the glass.

I tried them first but no longer doing windshields. I had Dale Smith do one of my cars about 15 years ago. Unfortunately, Dale is no longer with us. Dale was a super nice guy..

Default Auto City Classic

I've purchased three dated W/S from Auto City at Carlisle. They always offer a nice discount if you buy during the show. I can't speak to how well their product does in NCRS judging but they are very easy to do business with.

Sorry to hear about that. I talked to someone (i thought it was Dale) about a year and half ago. I will have to let the person who knew him know.
