The "Best" Midyear Corvette
Don't let the title fool you, I'm not trying to start a war here ... Does anyone else remember quite a few years back there was an article in (maybe) Popular Hot Rodding or Hot Rod Magazine about the "ultimate" midyear Corvette as a featured car ? The builder wanted to own a Corvette that had the best features of all the midyears. Here's what I remember (hopefully I'm correct on this):
It was a coupe.
It had a '63 split window back glass(es).
'67 side fender louvers
'67 backup lamp
'67 stinger hood w/stripe
427/435hp tri-power and four speed
'65-'67 gauges
'67 center mounted park brake
'65-'66 knock-off wheels
'67 headrest seats
'65-'67 four wheel disc brakes w/'67 dual circuit master cylinder
headrest seats
I'm not sure what else but it was what the owner thought that a midyear coupe should be. Does this ring a bell with anyone ?

i would not want the centered mounted parking brake anyway, it makes it difficult to ride 3 people and the damn things are just that anyway( a parking brake)....jmo

Such a corvette would need side pipes And the 67 backup light b/c it breaks up the curved line in the rear.

Just buy a 1967 since it has 10 of the 12 items listed and is clearly the best mid-year ever made . The 1967 will always be the mid-year to own and that everyone wants. If you can afford the extra money, buy a 1967. If you can't spend the extra money buy a 1965 or 1966. Personally, I just bought a 1967 because I know I would have not been "satisfied" with a 1965 or 1966. My motto is......save up and buy what you want because you will always be happy with it!

I never wanted a car with a hubcap for a radio ****
1967, the year styling started to fade, and parts for the Vega were test fitted.........

'65 for sure! I always wanted a '67 growing up because it was what you were "supposed" to want. After looking at the design details, I decided I liked the '65 the best.
I don't like the gills on the '67 or the rear mounted back up light.
I like the "cleaner" look of the '65 without the script on the hood, and I've never liked the upright Corvette script on the '66-'67 vs the earlier script. I also prefer Goldwood yellow to Sunfire.
It's all nit picking for sure ... they are all so sweet to look at!

Dammit Bobby ! That's exactly what I was trying not to do, I precluded all of this in my first sentence. Does anyone else remember the ARTICLE ? That's all I'm looking for ....

I like all midyear Corvettes but i prefer coupes and i am not so fond of the back up lights over the license plate on the later midyears
