Naw, it would be a waste of time. It's gotta be like arguing politics and religion, this guy has his mind firmly made up he has a gold mine and if 10 years of no buyer has not convinced him otherwise, nothing we say here will either. My bet is 10 years from now he will still be trying to sell it.

I particularly like the part about having an old quote of $5,000, from a midyear expert, to repair the nose with OEM style fiberglass, strip and refinish the car. Though he was kind enough to adjust the old quote for inflation. He feels it would now cost $8,923.75 to do!

I think he is perhaps a trust fund baby that recently got out of the "hospital" and needs some cash because his guardian has him on a limited budget.

And it's perhaps no surprise but still worth noting that the cars was stored in 1977 and somewhere before that the original motor was replaced for some reason. Didn't last all that long, did it.

Says it "has occupied the number one bay of (his) climate controlled shop" but the photos show it's alongside a bench, behind a sandblast cabinet (THAT'S gotta make for real good conditions ) and so close to the yellow Vette next to it that water would not run between them.

An interesting car but I think I'll wait another 10 years and buy it for $150,000!
Let's see, he is portraying this car in exactly the opposite condition than it really is and expecting you to pay through the nose for it...is Obama selling this Vette?

Nomad, you're right, I think there must be a politician involved! That's the type of thinking we seem to get from Washington for sure!

Oh well, it makes good entertainment!

He was talking about calling him because its the best way of communicatiing and he said " but...chances are we have met either in person or talked on the phone before, specially if you have been to any of the major car shows in.... blah blah blah "

Then he said he has a hot wife so you might remember him at his stand..

Well if you look at his web site from the 2001 ad, he claims to also own companies in the greenhouse, construction, communications, pre-paid legal, property management, stock and options trading, web hosting, and guns and ammo fields! Must be half Warren Buffett, half J.R. Ewing!

I remembered the car and ad from back then. Who could forget his website ? He had his famous web name posted there, so I did a search for his user name to see if he was still around.

The CF search feature actually does work sometimes.

Disregarding the guys cocky little story telling festival, a cleanup and a new front clip and this car could be quite the beauty . Looks like the interior could be salvaged with the exception of the carpet. Great color combo. If that price is just a starting point for negotiation...hmmm....

The guys response when I asked him about his eBay listing/website ten years ago

Hello Donald,
*
Thank you for inquiring about my 1967 427 Tri-Power 3x2 Corvette.* Over the 13 years I have been on eBay, this listing has attracted 10-times more attention than any other listing I have ever posted.
*
The webpage to which you refer was posted 5 years ago by an over zealous employee of mine who littered the Internet with experimental web pages optimized for search engine placement.* While he*listed it for what I paid for the car back in 1989 (not my selling price), and not that it is a critical issue, the number of years I have been playing with my Corvettes and Muscle cars is correct in all the listings (since*the summer of 1975).
*
Please let me know if I can supply any further information you desire or answer other questions you may have.
*
If you wish to phone me at your convenience, I welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. I can be reached at 217-762-4846, or if you wish to send a phone number, I can call you.
*
Thank you.
*
Sincerely,
*
Steve Shreffler

NADA
Pine Scented Air Freshener
Average Resale = $3
Good = $5
Excellent = $25

Not to be confused with mouse dropping scent of fuzzy dice.

This guy had this same 67 for sale around 15-20 years ago .I don't think it's much of a "deal" wrecked with the wrong engine...If he GAVE it to you it would cost more to fix it than it's worth and would still have the wrong engine.:

Disagree - if he GAVE it to you, it would be a bargain, and even if you had to shell out a REASONABLE amount, the car has potential. I've sen FAR worse cars made into beauties. The problem arises when he confuses the price of a similar car in excellent condition with what he has now.

Darn, I remember one vendor back in the early '80s who had this well endowed wife or significant other who frequently stood around in a bikini, especially a pink one.

I can't remember that guy's name or the name of his business. I wish I could, I wonder what the wife looks like now.
