Default Corvette News 1953 Corvette Search

Hello All:
Years ago Corvette News did a search for all of the 1953 Corvettes and their respective owners.
Apparently each owner that sent in a rubbing of the vin plate of their 1953 Corvette and was rewarded with an engraved sliver plaque showing their name and the serial number of the Corvette.
A similar metal plaque was made for each car and were mounted on a large wood master plaque.
I have been told that an article was written about these plaques in the (NCRS) Corvette Restorer.
The previous owner of my 1953 Corvette and I never could get together at the right time for him to give me the plaque; well today was the right time.
Any one know anything about these plaques and if there is an article in the Corvette restorer?
I will post a picture of mine if anyone is interested

Default Corvette News Plaque

In the posting rules on my page it says I can't post attachments to my thread, so I added a photo of the plaque and one of the previous owners holding the plaque in the C1 Restoration Gallery, didn't know where to put them, they are pending approval.

Howdy, that means that only paying members can upload files as attachments directly from their computer.

However if you wish to post your photos on www.tinypic.com or www.photobucket.com you can add the [IMG] tags to your corvette forum post, linking the tinypic or photobucket photos here.

Over the winter I re-read every copy of the NCRS Restorer that I have gotten since 1988. I can tell you the article is in there somewhere. I believe a large photo of the plaque is on the back cover. Still I seem to recall you cannot make out the names of all the owners.

I'm going to guess that this was all done as part of the 50th Corvette aniversary in 2003. So I'd look at those issues first.

Al Hill actually had a copy of the plaque reproduced. The back cover of the Restorer was pretty clear. At least mine was.

Nice to see that you have one of the cars listed. What vin # is it?
