I had no record of your friends '63 roadster #10,375.
What year did he last see it?

Thanks Steve
I'll note your friends old '63 with 'info only' and that it was last seen in '78 or there about. Does he remember what the original hp and transmission was?
Just got back from the Cape and overloaded on steamers and chowdah.
Beautiful as always.
Thanks again!

Thanks Syd ,good info to know. Back in the day people were taking the 3 speeds out and getting 4 speeds all the time. The first one I drove was a 3 speed. Thanks again RT

Hi Swept57,
I had Coupe #14,940 listed in my file but without any info other than knowing it is a Coupe. It was recorded by another '63 enthusiast years back and forwarded to me.
I'm glad I can now add it's colors to it's listing because I hate including cars without knowing the color!
Is this your '63? Do you know what the original hp was/is?
Any other options like leather etc.? Body number?
Thanks!
Syd

I know this might be a silly question but what are these numbers that you are looking at to figure out when a vette was made? is it the vin number or something? The reason why I ask is cause we ourselves just got a 63 split window vette and i was hoping to look and see if anyone had any info on it ourselves.
The basic info I have on the corvette is that my dad bought it in 1968. It is not matching numbers cause we think the original owner cracked the block at some point and had to replace it. The car from all the indications we can figure see looks like a fuelie version of the 63 split. It no longer has fuel injection on it and didn't have it when dad bought it and I have no interest in putting it back on. But I would love to find out more info on it if there was a place I could look it up.
My dad passed away about 4 months ago and to do credit to him we are working on doing the improvements he wanted to do but got to sick to do himself.
So would it be possible for someone to tell me more about these numbers so i can go look on the vette, if someone can also tell me where to look on it, and then I can post those numbers here and see if anyone knows anything more about it then the info I have on it now?
Thank you ever so much.

Another '63 roadster
Syd,
You can add my '63 roadster to your list.. 103191 purchased from the original owner in October of 1971. Originally 275Hp? with the T-10 trans and was blue/blue. It has both tops and the original engine & transmission was stolen in '73.

EDIT: Updated in Post #1828, car MAY have been Daytona Blue originally
I had not looked at this thread for quite a while, but now I see 1) you have added convertibles and 2) you are documenting 63's from the past even if we no longer own them.
Therefore, for what it's worth, in about 1974 I purchased 30867S119803 from an individual in Webster NY. I believe it had the 340 HP. I do not have any idea on the original color and have no numbers off the body tag. (I think I'm doing durn good to even still have the VIN ) I painted it Sunfire Yellow.
I sold it in July 1976 through an ad in the Rochester NY paper, no record of who I sold it to.
Strangely, about 2 or 3 years ago a nephew through marriage passed away. At the calling hours, among the pics was one of a Vette identical to mine, which he had sold quite a few years before. His wife has no idea who he sold it to, but the nephew lived in Canandaigua NY. It does not show up on a NMVTIS search. It was orange in the photo.
Hope this helps the data base a tiny bit, sorry I don't have more but almost 40 years back, it's the best I could do.

Unfortunately I was doing the house and kids thing about then, and the '56 was also sold (actually sold that before the '63). No idea who I sold it to, but that VIN does not show up on the C-1 registry nor the NMVTIS either. BTW - I do recall the price I paid for the '56....$650.00 :

Hi Syd,
Please add my 63 # 106775 to your list. I purchased this from the second owner in 1968 and it's finally getting a well deserved frame off non-show restoration.
Thanks
Scott

Actually, I've been recording all 63's both Coupes and Roadsters from the start. Same with cars that were reported stolen, wrecked or from past owners etc. Kinda like trying to fill in the production puzzle.
I have no record in my file for your old '63 #19,803. Too bad that you don't recall what the original colors were.
Like many others, I'll list it as being recorded with "info only" and the year 1976.
Thanks!

Your Coupe is very interesting to me because I recorded a Roadster years ago that had the same serial sequence number, '63 Roadster #6,775. It's not alarming to me however because it could simply be a mistake or typo by the person who listed it for sale somewhere with the wrong serial number. They could have easily had one digit off.
But, I also do have several instances in my file where there are 2 cars reporting the same serial number and one is a Coupe and the other a Roadster, just like your example! There is another in fact somewhat close to yours in the 6,000 vin range.
I've never heard this possibility discussed but if the scenario of some cars in '63 production, Coupe and Roadster's that have the same ending serial number is fact then maybe it would help explain why the Body numbers of both exceed the final production total for the year.
Thanks Scott!
