Default 427 l88

Hello all. I have a 427 L88 motor from a 67 vette. I bought it thinking it was a 454 to go into my 69 camaro. The machine shop informed me it was a L88 from a 67 vette. Is there any demand for this motor? I am not sure if I should try to sell it to a vette owner looking for one of these or just put it into my camaro. Input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hundreds of L-88 engines were sold over the counter, and only 20 went into '67 Corvettes; what's stamped on the front pad?

If it isn't a CE and it does have a stamp then it surely is worth some money. If you are going by just part numbers then the L88 shares casting numbers with other motors as well.

Default numbers

all the work has been done on the block already. It has been sitting in my garage waiting to go in the car. When the machine shop did the work they called me to tell me the information about the L88. That same shop does the work for a man who ownes a 67 vette and that guy offered me a new 454 crate motor for the block at that time. I looked on the block and these are all the numbers/letters I could find.
3904351 P C1 GM2 Hiper Pass K3 C317 14 TQM 110 OP65. Does any of this help? Thanks for the insight guys. I am just trying to figure out what I should do with this thing. As of right now I have the block fully done and ready to go. I also have 781 heads done with race flow valves with some mild porting/polishing ready to go on it.

something is not adding up. the casting number and date line up to be any 67 427 motor. but the suffix code is not correct. that's for the 63 Impala Z11 427

why would it be worth big money? haven`t all 50 of the original 20 67 L-88 cars been restored? and surely all of them have their matching numbers motors

I looked those up also and could not figure that out. the TQM 110 OP 65 is by the oil filter and is stamped in on a machined area. the date code C317 is cast into the block itself. There is another number that I can not make out. It looks to be about 6 digits long and it is cast on the face of the block just below where the block is machined for the head.

I will try to make it out again. I dont know if I can. It is pretty bad. Any suggestions on trying to make it stand out? I found this block sitting in a guys front yard with a bird bath on top of it. No kidding. He and I thought it was a 454 block. It had been sitting out in the weather for so long I was not sure if it could be used. Gave him 20 bucks for it.

A rubbing... Put a thin piece of paper over the top of the numbers. Then with light pressure from the side of a pencil lead, rub over it several times. Watch for the numbers to transfer to the paper.

If you have a digital camera. Set the lens to macro focus and take some pics. You may need to light the area with a flashlight. Take several to pick the best. If you email or post them. We can work on the contrast, etc..to help out.

The block alone is worth big money.

The heads are oval port and are not L88. You can buy them all day long for $100.

Funny how a machine shop thinks it's a L88 with oval port heads.

Around here that's what they go for.

They are not exactly rare, as every 454 in a ton truck had them.

I guess your lucky try to live close to Carisle and have lots of race tracks were all the parts were used up
