Paint or not to paint fiberglass undercarriage bottom
I have read a lot of info on blackening out the bottom fiberglass floor undercarriage.
I'm assuming most if not all fiberglass bottoms was done like this at the factory.
The glass on the bottom of this car looks relatively good with minimal age ware.
I'm wanting the car to look factory but I have also noticed a lot of nice clean unpainted glass bottom on cars, and they tend to bring a better price.
Was all bottoms blacked out?
Is the advantage of not painting bottom a resale idea for a cleaner looking bottom? and being able to show at point of sale or show the bottoms good unrepaired condition?
Or even with a nice looking clean unrepaired bottom is it a must to keep it factory and black it out.
Thank you

The undercarriage fiberglass was originally unpainted except for some factory overspray. If yours is relatively clean and unpainted, you are that much farther ahead of the game. Just clean it up and you are good to go. Pilot Dan

I sprayed mine with Krylon semi-gloss black (the one that is no longer available).
I think it looks better and certainly covers the repairs from where the half-shaft came into the cabin.

The fiberglass on the bottom is unpainted from the factory....painted only by someone wanting to improve the weathered look to their satisfaction, for show, OR, in the worst case, to cover up something. If yours is still bare, if it were me, I'd leave it alone....lots of owners spend many many hours with rubber gloves, solvents and rags to get paint and undercoat off and back to orignal. I'd clean it up, maybe touch up your frame nicely with some appropriate semigloss (taking care not to do overspray). But, your call....whatever you like.
