you get sites like this: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...signtech03.htm
Design Tech (listed in the site ad) is the USA company that made mine
Forum users posting videos have shown the halogens to be brighter than the LEDs, but the LEDs light up a split second faster.

Melting Slicks
I had a tail light bulb burn out and found both lens melted from the 1157 bulbs. I bought new lens and LED bulbs #1157-r3x1w from Superbrightleds.com.......best move I ever made. Much brighter, safer, and cooler than the stock bulbs, and once the lens covers are on, you can't tell that led's are in there. I did not need to buy an electronic flasher, my brake lights and turn signals work fine with the stock, heavy duty flasher.....however, since I have backup lights, I only replaced the two 1157 tail lights. I still have the 1156 bulbs in my backup lights. By the way, if you order led bulbs, always order the bulbs the same color as the lens they are going behind.

I checked my lights and the 3 of the 4 that had melted lenses all had 1157 and the one that was okay had a 1034. 1034's were called for in all 55-62's. I don't know when the change to 1157 occurred. I think I'll put 1034's in my 65 to avoid any problems. The LED's are cooler but the difference (individual light spots) is clearly visable.

Their flasher specs are shown at http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...=/flashers.htm, see if that helps you out.

I found a marginal ground, and fixed that. As I was working on the car, I thought of what I think fried my lenses. I had occasion a few weeks back to leave the car parked with the flashers on for probably 2 hours. I'm thinking they just got so hot they melted.
Also, thinking of trying these I found on ebay:
Item number: 110642915175
Price is right.
Also, anyone know what the center lead is for on the LED 2 pronged flashers? I've seen several in pictures with the lead on them. Looks like a ground wire...

i agree the LEDs don't have the traditional incandescent look, but they are MUCH brighter and therefore more visible; especially in the daylight.
look at this new video, the ones on the left are LED, the rights are incandescents.
