Default Salt and Sand be Damned!

After a week of left over snow and temps in the teens I HAD to get the Vette out! There was a little salt and sand on the street but heck, it was sunny and in the 50's. Yes, southerners are spoiled. I'm looking for new tires so I borrowed a Tom Tom and have been wanting to check my speedometer. I figured I might as well pick a tire size that works with the 3.36 rear and what ever speedometer gear I have, I can't recall. The 27" tall 255/60/15's I've got now are reading about 1 mph slow. At least I know where I stand now. Later

Can't bring myself to do it............you should see the daily beater (full of salt spray ) so Winter has become a time to catch up on projects. Pilot Dan

Yup....took mine out too today. Not so much salt/brine on the roads. Felt good to hear the engine again. Think I will hose off the chassis tomorrow just to make sure.

Jeez, I thought you were gonna talk about a beach on the ocean...

j/k

It's fun to know they have salt there.
There's no salt here - when we get snow or ice they just pile on the sand.

Still too much salt/brine up this way to get the old cars out. I washed my daily driver this morning, and now it looks just as bad as it did before I washed it. We got a layer of ice on top of the snow this time, and they laid down the salt very heavy to try to break that up.

This winter has sucked so far - I can't wait for spring.

Don't be fooled by a "dry" road after salting. Until there is a very hard rain, that stuff will still find it's way on to the underneath of the car. Best to wait until that hard rain washes the roads.

Heat wave here today, temps got to 82 and balmy. Takes longer to get through the lights with all the snowbirds here.

Nothing like the Hill Country after an ice storm!

Nothing like that first drive in the spring, almost as exciting as the day that I bought the car.

The up side.....
It gives us 4 months to work on it without feeling we need to get it out.
Heck here in Iowa we still have packed snow on the driveways.

I wanted to run the fuelie today but the temps are around 30 and there is still snow against my garage door!
If I did get the car out of the garage and took it for a ride my maroon car would come back white from the salt.
So I will let it sit.

That's very true. Kinda like getting a new toy every spring. It is sad putting them away though.

Saint this is the only to enjoy snow, from afar. I've posted this before, but it just fits in this discussion.

I hope it goes away soon.

Yup you for sure have it in California
Nice climate and summer the hole year. If you want to do some skiing just take a drive to the mountains

And i must say that the picture you posted really looks great. Really great nature

No problem. I keep the frame painted and waxed, and have fiberglass frame shields in the rear wheel wells. I have found that, in snow, Sting Rays with positraction have better traction than front drive cars.

After driving the car (Corvette) on salted roads and driving back home does the frame get rinsed off (garden hose) from underneath? .. Is this plausible.........too cold........, or? .. Just wondering.
