Default Trim tag/Vin Opinions

I've found a '65 roadster and the tag information looks correct, What concerns me is a section of rust up above the right side of the trim tag. Apparently I'm not allowed to post a picture or I'd show it. Maybe some one could?
Thanks, Rollo

Rollo,
You can post pics. If you have them on a photo hosting site, just highlight and copy the "IMG" code for the picture, click the "insert image" tab above your post here on the forum, and paste the IMG code for your pics in that box. Hit enter, and your pic is posted.

Or, email me the pics and I'll post them for you.

What is your question regarding the rust?

What's that toggle switch above the trim tag do?

Hi,
Yes thanks for the posting tip!

On the rust, I thought the section in the middle (kind of above & behind the phillips head) looked suspect to me. It doesn't show so bad in this smaller image. Does it throw off any danger signals to you? I know you usually see some rust in this area but this piece seemed more serious.

Yes the toggle is a mystery, but guessing a kill switch, too.

Thanks again. --Rollo

From your picture, the rust looks like it's on the reinforcement assembly that attaches to the hinge pillar brace. The reinforcement assembly is what the glove box frame and door attach to; and I don't believe it's too big a deal if it has a little rust.

The hinge pillar brace is the horizontal piece to which the trim and vin tag are attached, and is the more important component. I would recommend looking to see if the hinge pillar is affected? If you see rust on it, more investigation is probably warranted.

Thanks Mike. I've only seen a couple pictures of the car and didn't want to waste a 2 hour drive if it looked bad. Will check that section well when I look.
