Default LS3 into C2 Engine Swap... What is entailed???

If this has been covered before just point me to threads. My search turned up nothing with details of what's involved, fitment issues etc. Can it be hooked to Muncie?

Thanks!

He is really a good guy will help you in ever way.. This swap is not cheap with all the diff stuff you have to get and do....But is will be fun when you are done plus better mpg.

C3 is basically the same chassis, so the install problems will be very similar... Try this thread from th C3 sticky threads

My 65 was done and documented on CF see - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...-65-vette.html It is a '06 LS2 which would be similar to LS3. I had the chassis and trans upgrades as well. Hope this gives you some idea of what you will need to do. There are other LS1 and LS2 threads on the C2 Forum. Good Luck Tim

Exhaust if you are running the manual transmission and side pipes can be challenging. ( I am running a 4L60 with hooker headers/sidepipes, bought LS flanges and had a good friend cut/weld it together. 8-10 hrs.

Several different mounts out there for the motor, no big deal.

Water pump heater hose outlets and water neck will need to be changed.

I am changing the drive by wire to a F-body drive by cable set up.

Electronic Tach conversion or change factory gauge

If you want to keep the muncie, I believe there is bell housings with adapters, you may also check out LS tech.

I also had to grind the inside of the rt side control arm at the rear for water pump clearance.

Some other things will come up, try to get the wiring harness and PCM with the motor you select.

I hope to get mine back from the engine builder this weekend, had some abnormal issues/noises and will be getting back at it. Will have some more updates.

Motor came out of a silverado, PCM & harness came from something else, I was trying to make it as easy of a conversion as possible plus I got a pretty good deal on a F-body ported/polished throttle body.

Couple other items to be addressed will be:

Driveshaft ( I had to have mine shortened)

Alternator & AC brackets, I do not have power steering.

change EVERYTHING, nothing will hook up, wire up, bolt up or line up! If you need 400 horsepower get a 383, five speed and an add on fuelie set up.
