Sandblasting the 54
This id the easy way to get the paint off your old car. Yes I was a little uneasy abiout having this 54 fiberglass Corvette sandblasted but it turned out great.
Sorry for the double post, I am just trying to get the hang of this pic posting thing.

Thought about soda blasting but this guy has done this to Corvettes many times and he know what he is doing. Besides Soda blasting would have been about 3 or 4 times as much as this was and he did it in about 30 min. and did it while we were there so we could take pic. If I would have taken it to be soada blasted who know when they would have do it and I could not have been there when they did it. We just took it to this guy, rolled it off the trailer he blasted it and we put it back in the trailer and off we went. Never had to worry about leaving the car with people I didn't know or getting back all the parts we took with the car to have blasted.

Do you happen to know the exact media and at what pressure he uses?
He certainly has a huge pile of it in the background....
Nice looking results,

RK, no I don't know any of the stuff or the presure he used. But look how far back he is from the car when he is blasting. He knows what he is doing. He has done several vettes in the past.

He knew we were wanting to take pic. As long as we were back a ways he didn't care. It only took him about 30 min to do the car inside and out. Vettebuyer, thanks for walking me thur the posting of these pic. I just hope I can remember how to do it next time I want to post pic.

If this perfectionist sand blasts your Corvette, I say yes after close inspection only! However if anyone else would perform this tedious task using sand I would absolutely say no way! Too many Corvette restorers use a softer media like plastic or baking soda for good reason. Why chance destroying the original fiberglass, it’s absurd that speed should be brought into the equation.

For the un-imformed, you just don't know what you're talking about. There are different grades of sand, different nozzles, techniques, etc.
You can screw up a Corvette with plastic media and baking soda as well. The operator needs to know what he's doing. This one does.
