Default OT: Help me evaluate this El Camino

It's to be auctioned as part of the Bob McDorman collection on Nov. 6. It's an '87 El Camino Choo-Choo Custom in a fairly rare color combination of maroon exterior and gray interior. The ad says it has only 457 miles, but it looks kinda worn to me. Plus, it says it has a 'spanking new bucket seat interior with console'. And some of the side moulding is missing. Please note the unclean engine compartment. Does anyone know this car, or have any comments, or have an opinion of its worth?

i would proceed with caution. i first went to McD show/ swap in 1974 or 75. his collection consisted of cars needing some TLC. i quit going after around 1978-same cars; same condition plus more of the same. went again in the mid 90's. now a big collection of some tired cars. there were a few gems but not many. it's a car dealer selling used cars. do the math.

I bought a 86 Monte SS new, and those wheels are not SS wheels; the 305 HO motor was not a screamer either...you need to inspect everything up close.

But the elky is kinda cool, and rare!!!

That engine has surely seen many many more miles than 457 ! Maybe 45,700 ?

To claim such low mileage I would expect to have a verifiable and complete owner history with records. It might be original miles. The state of the car is dependant on the method of storage. The seats may have suffered rodent damage. The engine compartment may just be dusty. In any event, an up close personal inspection should be done. I wouldn't dismiss it just based on a couple of photos if it's something you really want.
