Default 396 drive shaft universal joint

Does any one know what the markings on the U joint is for a 396? The one I have has a QC on one side no grease fitting. And if this is not correct where can I get one ? Thanks Bill

What year car (1965 ?). For driveshaft or half-shaft?

Originals had no grease fittings.

Normally a daub of yellow paint was used by the factory on the driveshaft yoke to denote alignment with the differential yoke (which also had a daub of yellow paint). This was for driveline balance purposes.

All midyears used the same driveshaft and U-joints, whether it was a 250hp Powerglide or an L-88; there were no driveshafts or U-joints that were unique to any engine or transmission.

Recommend AC DELCO # 45U0145 or GM # 89029327. Same joint. They are made by Federal Mogul in USA. They are the same as FM Precision #269.

You can also use these numbers to get something similar at NAPA or other parts store. Some folks prefer Spicer joints, but they cost more and can be more difficult to install in some circumstances. But your choice......I don't have this part number handy. They also look a bit different than the others, but are just about bullet-proof.

The AC DELCO, FM, and/or GM joints above cost about $ 15-20 each.

U-Joints on half shafts & drive shaft, 1963-1967 Corvettes

Half Shafts Use Spicer #1350, solid joint.

Drive Shaft Uses Spicer #1310, solid joint.

According to my info . . . . .
