Default Thought I would share some progress...

I haven't been keeping a whole thread for my '61 resto-rod build. But thought I would share a couple of newer pictures....

Power steering set-up, engineered to keep the front engine mounting.

Notice anything strange about my new dashpad?

Guage refinish...

Headed to the body shop for a color change - too many Red Corvette's around IMO (no offense to Herb).

2007 GM Black Diamond Metallic - pictures under cover don't do it justice. In the sun the flake explodes like fireworks.

Red leather seats on the way and tons of cool interior tricks planned. (You'll never see another center console insert like it). I'll post more as it comes together...

Default Bad ***

That's one fine looking car. Thanks for posting the pics. That red interior is going to look good against that paint color. Greg

Nah - I've read many of your posts, I thought you could take some scarcasm. Your red car gets tons of respect from me. Blackwall bias plys and the old school hubcaps are perfect on that car.

Here's a couple pics of the motor (327/365hp - obviously not a numbers matching car). Before and after...

I have some other pix of the Jim Meyer suspension and disc brake conversion I'll try to upload later.

...Dash Pad has no speaker indent and has rib across speedo area. At least according to memory...is that right? Mine hit the dumpster as soon as I removed it a year or two ago.

Lookin' gooood!

Yes - no speaker indent or hole. Corvette America was kind enough to custom make it for me by plugging the hole in their mold die. I think it will turn out sweet - speakers are going down on the kick panels and should clean up the top of the dash....

Good idea...was there an extra fee for that consideration. I would like to do the same.

I saw a custom made module behind the seat divider/glove box..an extension under the convertible deck sorta. It had a speaker on each side. Looked like a good idea with the top down. Speakers in close proxmity to your ears, but invisible ...and the top still functioned properly.

Guage refinish...

Is that the overlay set from White Face Gauges, or did you get that done elsewhere?

It was the overlay from White Face Guage - pretty easy actually. Just takes some patience and a nice clean work area (ie: the dining room table - thank god my wife is tolerant).

It was an extra $100 for the additional labor and they had to make the plug for the mold - if you mention that you did it for me, maybe they'll give you a greak since the plug is already made.

Underneath in the foam the indent is still there so if your going to do it - as a heads up don't fill the speaker hole in the dash.

Ok ...thanks for the info... Sound like the thing to do to me.
