Default Rear body mount cushions on 63

The body mount kit for my 63' came with two rectangle rubber cushions. I can't remember where these went. Help?

I'm thinking you are talking about the two rear pan supports in front of the diff on 63/64's. But I'm also thinking my originals were round when I removed them but I don't remember for certain and couldn't find a decent picture.

I recall they go on top of the rear kick ups in between the frame and body in line approximately of the centerline of the rear wheels. I think you need to glue them in place so they don't shift around.

They are not the round pan support cushions. These are about 6" long x 1" wide x 1/2" thick and are ribbed. I believe they are a 63' only item.

Does anyone have a picture or diagram of where they go?

Thanks,

Bob

They go on the rear cross piece right behind the rear end between the body and the frame about 24" apart. Yeah, tape or glue them. When you pull all the body mounts down they get tight.

Thanks. That helps a lot. I was getting ready to put them length wise along that frame member.

I forgot all about those. I've seen them before but I don't recall pulling them out on my convertible and the body was never off. Wonder if they can fall out. Mine was a late July car so maybe they didn't include them then? Either way, thanks.

Yeah I don't remember them and my body had never been off either. I'm sure they could fall out over the years......

When I disassembled my car those pads were there on the frame as shown in C2ray's photo. They were glued on and when I reassembled the car I used weather stripping cement to put them back in place.

Could you tell us an approximate VIN number for your car. Sometime like 123XXX would be fine. I'm curious if these might be something found only on early 63 coupes. The only purpose I can think of is a floor support for the "Jump Seat" that never materialized as a 63 production feature.

My car is an approximate 27 Nov 62 production and the serial number is under 4000.

My vin is 2170......birthdate calculator says oct 23rd '62. Looked in the assembly manual but no references these rubber mounts.

I found those pads when I removed the body from a late May '63 convert... although I don't remember now where they were positioned on the frame.

This is almost the same shot of the same chassis I posted above. Vin 19761, July 18th approx. Note that if they were ever there, you would probably see some type of mark on the frame where they were. Nothing, nada, zip. They were also not stuck to the underside of the body.

Mine is an April 23 car. I'll probably put them on anyways. Can't see it hurting anything. These 63's can use all the cushioning they can get. I'm not going to glue them though in case I do need to slide them out if they interfer or hold the body up too high.

Here is the only shot I have of the cushion in the original position after removal of the body.
