Default Unusual Vintage Goodyear Tire

See the pics of the spare from my 66. I don't remember this unique "strobe" stripe. It's a Goodyear Double Eagle. It's in great shape and holds air. I guess I will continue to carry it as the spare, unless someone has 3 just like it and needs it real bad. Were tires from this era dated? If so, how do I decode? Thanks.

"Way back when....." :-)

The Goodyear Double Eagle was their top of the line tire usually seen on Cadillacs, Lincolns and New Yorkers. Expensive tire.

I never saw them on a Corvette then but some people may have bought a set.

I suspect the tire was part of a set of five and has survived all this time.

I would not trust a tire that old for very many miles or very many miles per hour.

Consider the value of your car and life compared to the cost of a new tire.

Just my thoughts.

A friend of mine has four 6:70x15 on his '62. Probably put on in the mid '60's.

Thanks, and I agree. By using it as a spare, I mean just filling up the tub. If I have a flat, I will call a flatbed to haul me home. Thanks for the input. Yes, I can see this tire on a Caddy, not a Vette. Maybe I should bolt it on, hammer on the hubcap, and take a pic, whaddya think?
