Default 1966 Vert rairty value? Options listed

Hi C2s, I'm from the C5 side of the world and posting a question for my brother, he has a 1966 he just rebuilt, engine (original), new trans suspension etc.etc, etc, runs great and it is going to stay in the family. Purchased from original owner in 1968 and driven occasionally until 1984 when it was parked, just put back on the road May 2009. Curious as to value and rarity of equipped (loaded?) as follows from the original window sticker:

Though I can't give you any expert opinions on value or on rarity, what you have is a nicely loaded car, definitely built for comfort. Check the recent threads about the K19 option (A.I.R.) and you'll see that a car outfitted as this one is less likely to have been abused compared to it's general 4 speed, high hp bretherin in the midyear world. I'm sure that other more knowledgeable forum members will chime in on this one.

One thing that I can tell you that is rare (and cool as hell) is the Silver Pearl/Silver Leather colur combo. That must be stunning in real life !

as Ray mentioned, outside of the paint combo which is relatively rare, everything else just nice options to have.......how rare, probably not that rare, as folks we wanting more and more comfort.....value really is in the eye of the beholder, but somewhere in $50,000 range

The production break down of options is as follows.

Power Brakes 5,464
Leather 2,002
Powerglide 2,381
Power Steering 5,611
Power Windows 4,563
Tele Column 3,670
Hardtop 7,160
Air Conditioning (conv) 1,382
Tint (windshield only) 9,270
AM-FM 26,363
Calif Emissions 2,380
Whitewalls 17,969
Silver Pearl 2,937

Total production 27,720 (17,762 conv & 9,958 coupe)

There is no record available of how many cars were built with a certain combination of options.

Your brothers car does have some rare options. Air conditioning, especially in a convertible, is very desirable and rarer than the coupe (1,383 conv vs 2,138 in coupes). It is not uncommon, though, to find air conditioned cars equipped with steering, brakes and automatic. Cars with air just tend to be more loaded. If the car is a hardtop only car, then it is somewhat rarer as only 1,303 convertibles were built without the softtop, but hardtop only might actually hurt the value.

Value is hard to say, especially in todays market. The combination of options on it can help or hurt this one. The total number of options and the desirablity of some (air, tele, leather, etc.) helps it for some buyers, but the Powerglide will turn some people off. Also, if any of the Calif Emission equipment or air conditioning parts are missing or not working will hurt the value. These can be hard to find and very expensive.

Without seeing the car, I'd guess that a correct, numbers matching car with this equipment should be worth at least in the $50,000's.

It would have to be either a 327/300 or 427/390 as they were the only engines available with a Powerglide in 66. Since he listed equipment posted on the window sticker and he didn't mention it being a big block, I assumed it to be a 300.

You are right 327/300 and Tom is correct originally purchased by a woman, the story is my brothers neighbor bought the car new and a year later the owner said it did not hold enough groceries so she wanted to sell it. My brother purchased it for his wife for valentines day in 1968. Unfortunately it has been repainted a silver blue and the seats have been redone in a silver gray, not original but in the 1970s when the refresh was done it was just an 10 year old corvette, nothing special like the C4s are today. Thanks for the info, I was more curious about the options rarity and knew this was the place to come.

The AC is the definitive option for this car. The Powerglide is a detraction, imho; however, someone who is older and wants the "look" and the comfort that this 'vert offers would be attracted to a car like this. 118,000 miles might make for a tougher sell than a car with half that mileage, though. In this market, I would think $40K to $45K would be in the ballpark. I have a big bias against Powerglide cars, so take that into consideration.

Does anyone know how many 4 speed 327350hp convertibles with AC there were? I've had one for years I want to redo someday just wondering how unique it is.

Woodie is it a 65 or 66? All factory A/C cars with any motor combination and other options are desireable but not necessarily rare. I do not know what you consider rare but I would guess a 350hp, 4 speed, A/C convertible, would be in the range of 300 to 400 cars for 66 and fewer for 65. The color would probably make it more desireable than the motor simply because most A/C 350hp cars that I have come across are in the less popular colors. That is just my opinion based on my observation of all of the 350hp A/C cars that I know about.
