I use por15 over rusty drums. It works great and is hard as a rock.

DavidB, Great Pic, Thanks, and I know what your talking about with the drums...
Currently I have 4 Rally wheels with beauty rings and center caps of of a 68 mounted on the 56, on the Wheel area between the chrome rings anc center caps, I painted red to match the car :D I really like it and seems everyone else does too.
But they have been on there for 8 years now and its time to change...
I really like the Cragers, looks great on your car....
Where did you get yours ? Expensive little buggers....

Default David B - where is your car at?

Your 62 is looking good! I think Cragers are a classic look for old Vetts. Where do you keep your car at? I noticed palm trees in the background of the picture. Surely this is not London? Looks like the US (maybe Florida) by the looks of the other vehicles.

I have 15x7 Cragar SS wheels on my '62.
One time, at a car show, I overheard some shmuck say "Why did he spend all that money on that car then put THOSE wheels on it".
Because they look GOOD.
One of my friends has 17x8 Cragar SS wheels on his '68 Holden Monaro (similar to a Chevelle?) and they look very trick. Somehow gotta squirrell away enough money without the wife knowing so I can get some 17s...

Thanks for the kind words.
Front springs have been cut...when I pulled the front suspension off the car I found that some fool had cut a coil off one of the front springs, but not the other! Duh! No wonder the car looked "crooked" when I took photos from the front. So I evened them up, cut the other spring to match the short one. Rear springs have been rebuilt with the fancy cloth inserts between the leaf springs, and "retensioned" by a suspension shop, but the rear end does not seem different than before this was done. The car does sit very low. Its a combination of the front cut, saggy rear, and low profile tires. I have had the original wheels with white-stripe tires on the car and it sits a lot higher...it looks groovy but handles crap.
My tires are 215x60...I had 225s but they rubbed on the inner and outer rear guards. No problem with front tire clearance.

While not a picture of Crager's, check out the photo of a '56 with Halibrand Kidney wheels on Halibrand's site. I'm thinking about these wheels for my '56 except in the magnesium finish instead of the polished. The photo of the '55 Thunderbird has the Mag finish wheels. http://www.halibrand.com/index_frames.htm

Nice link joesC5, Thanks.... I have liked the Cragers for 30 years now, so I guess it's about time that I own a set :D
I went and looked at an advertised set of 4 Crager SS mounted for $575. and they were total crap... Old beat up chrome and drie rot rubber...
Guess I should order new....
Any more pic's out there ?

While I like Crager's
(I bought a set new in 1975 & put 'em
on my car, 10"s in the back and 4"s up front.)
I would go the Halibrand route.
(I think their SPRINT wheel would look great on a C1)
To me it would just look more natural / period correct.
Again Cragers are nice wheels and do not wish to offend anyone,
But they are more of a muscle car wheel to me, than a vette wheel.
I put Vette's more in the Cobra class, than Mustangs/Camaros ect....
Just my opinion & almost worth what you paid for it. :D
