Name calling? Nasty? I asked questions that I am very open to hearing a response on, and stated facts about certain things. You are very easily rattled with simple words if you believe I said anything nasty or called anyone a name. I wish you luck in dealing with people everyday. Wow....
"It's sad that you would be so closed minded to see that possibility and talk bad about a product you seemingly know little about. " That's your cleaned up version too.
I don't get rattled by much of anything, let alone words on a screen from someone I don't know. But I do know a failure at effectively making one's case when I see one
I also have a question about the Mid America GS. According to everyone who has built one it is a "real" Corvette with a vin#. Going by build photos from MecomRacer and someone else who has a slate grey GS(awesome)... all they use from the donor corvette is the birdcage and door guts. Everything else is replaced.
Couldn't you essentially do this exact thing with a Mongoose car(use a donor car for the cage and door guts)? You would effectively solve the structural integrity and at the same time the Mongoose would be a "real" corvette with a vin# from the donor (assuming all you need to keep the vin# is use a few parts from the donor)?
There also is the possibility that I missed something and they are using more than just the bird cage and the door guts. If I am please let me know.

In theory yes you could. The diff. in the two cars is the Mongoose body is molded in one piece. And the floor is glued in before you get the body. Mid America molds the nose and rear clip separate. So you are building the body kinda like you would a stock Vette.
I started with a 63 roadster that was burned. I still have the rear clip next to my barn. A quick rundown how to build a MA body. You sandblast and paint a birdcage. Then you put the tub and floors in (The floors are not the same as a stock vette due to the location of the round tube frame rails) Then the inner and outer firewall. Now you hang your doors, then the nose and the rear clip. It took me two days to hang all the glass once the floors and firewall where in.
Sorry I don't have any pics in my computor of the build. I did not have a digital camera when I started the last car.
If I were to do it all over again... I would still go with a Mid-America car. I would do some things differently but the final result (in my car) was what I was looking for - a streetable, titled Corvette, that looked and drove great. I still send Jeff Christmas cards because even though I haven't seen him in almost five years, I still consider him to be a friend.
I was originally interested in buying JohnZ's car when it came up on eBay, then almost bought a D&D car owned by a retired Motorola guy locally but then decided to build my own - my way.
I had to sell it in 2006 to have a couple kids (worth it but I really wish I could have kept it). It is in Malibu now and is available again. If someone is interested I can send the guy your e-mail address to make the introduction.
I have been planning a Mongoose Grand Sport replica build starting sometime this spring. I already have the C4 front and rear suspensions and a Big Block motor for the project. I went to the Mongoose facility, in Ohio, the day after this past Thanksgiving to look at the kit body and tube chassis. The finished cars there seemed to be very good. I was not aware there were body or or cowl shake issues. I realize it may be the case, as these are not birdcage vehicles. Any idea of what reinforcement can be done to reduce or minimize this characteristic?
Brian/aworks...was the Mongoose GS in Florida last year at a high end car lot?A guy here local here has that car if so.I have seen it,but not picked over it.It only cost him 120K.

I saw the car at the NCRS meet in Old Town.
I see someone has posted a you tube about Tony. He is in Mass. He's done some top quality work on the birdcage. His coupe is well done. Only thing is last time I talked to him he had no idea of when he would have a product for sale or price.
Just curious does anyone know the weight difference between the coupe and the roadster. Also, if people don't mind sharing their opinion...which body type do you guys like better? Coupe or roadster?
