Anyone old enough to remember C1's and C2's when they were new?
A high school buddy got a new '61 FI, white with red interior, as a graduation present. (He still has it) Some guy who worked with the highway department (now DOT) bought a new '66, white with saddle interior. An elderly man in my city bought a new Marlboro maroon '67 with black interior, BB. What new cars do you remember?

Yup! I'm old enough. I remember going for a ride with my cousin in his brand new '57 red on red. Got me hooked but it took a bunch of years before I finally got my first which was the '64.

I remember riding through Wash DC with my old man (this is during the Kennedy era) and seeing two C1's engage in some stoplight-to-stoplight racing...they were either new or just a year or two old...

I remember being a senior in high school and drinking beer and riding in a friends '62 white Vette. (Then I knew I needed to buy a Vette) We were going 140 mph on bias tires and thinking we were 'cool'.

Yes, I think I remember.
After years of saveing, I was able to buy a new 1966 425HP coupe. In less then 15 months, I had to sell her to go to war. It took me 36 years to get another '66 Tommy

Remember well my high school buddy killing himself in his white w/ black interior '62. Driving waaay too fast, lost control at a bridge and ended up in the river upside down. Steering wheel pinned him in the car and he drowned. Later, another good friend who attended the Air Force Academy,in his junior year dropped down to the bottom of the hill the Academy is on and bought his brand new '67 427/390 from the Chevy dealer there in Colorado. That car I got to drive and,to this day,I know I would have killed myself at the tender age of 20 trying to deal with that power. But WHAT A MACHINE!

Not a C2...but close!
I remember going to the Chevy dealer with my dad in the fall of 67 to see the new 68 on the showroom floor. Corvette Bronze. Awesome for a six year old! Dad had a 61 he bought when I was about 5 yrs old. Honduras Mroon/white coves/black interior, 4-speed. I bought my first corvette as a senior in high school. maroon 69 4-speed SB. Ran it absolutely to death! No tickets or wrecks.

My neighbor bought a new '65 convertible while I was in high school, growing up in Detroit. Very few people had garages so his car sat in the street just like any other car. That me and friends ample time to check the car out.

I grew up in a blue collar rural neighborhood & you wouldn’t expect it but we had so many C1’s & C2’s running around back in the 60’s it was amazing. The first I remember was a white 63 fuelie coupe a guy a few doors down from me brought home new. That was the first C2 I remember & it was love at first sight. He had a buddy with a 413 cross ram Plymouth (another great car) that he’d run all the time. As legend has it that fuelie never lost.
I had friends in high school one who bought a 57 with dual quads, that was a sweet machine that we worked on in shop class allot & another with fawn beige/fawn beige 62. One friends older brother had a 66 marina blue 427/425 roadster. Another friend of mine bought a new 67 marlboro maroon/black 427/435 roadster (this was after his 64 409 impala caught fire). That car had off-road exhaust & I’ve never heard anything as sweet as that since.
Looking back I actually feel so lucky to have been part of this time & these cars. This doesn’t even mention all the GTO’s, 442’s, Chevelles & Camaros that were running around.
BTW, just for you MOPAR fans I ran into an old buddy of mine who bought an original 69 440/6 pack Roadrunner back in 69 (the first one with the lift off hood). I asked him what ever happened to the car & he said he still has it in his garage. Told me I’ve got to stop by & have a few beers – he won’t have to ask twice, I'm on my way .

I was 9 when my uncle took me for a ride in his new `58, red/red, 270hp Corvette. A few years later a friend's uncle gave me a ride in his new`61 FI. When my brother got his dirver's license in `62 we'd take our sister's `55 on Corvette runs, which always had some new ones participating.

I remember the big buildup GM did on the 63 split window. I think to took a month of Sunday nights on Bonanza til they finally unveiled it. My Dad had a buddy with a 63 right after they came out. It was love at first sight.
I wasn't able to afford one until 02 and just recently found a steal on a 66 Laguna Blue Coupe.

I remember them both well. I was still in HS when the '63 came out. Went to the local dealer and asked to test drive one. To my surprise the salesman said ok. He was in the car, but I got a good drive all around town in it. Wasn't until '72 that I bought my first one - the '62 that I still have.
