Default Dash Pad - Best to use for 1962

In looking at the vendors dash pads for my 62 I see major price ranges. Are there that many manufactures that make them? Corvette central has black pads for $299. and others go from $359 to $599.

Do you know who makes Corvette Centrals and has any one used them? Any problems with them?
Any input would be good. Thanks.

What do most of you use??

Dash Pads from Al Knoch are considered by most to be the best. I believe Ccentral sells AK products.

in my limited experience, Al Knoch's dashpad is no better than Romeo's...

Corvette Central sells Romeo Engineering pads ($299) you can pay more (I believe Paragon sells pads for $540!!!) but I'm not sure the quality justifies it (like wmf62 said). In fact, I'm not sure there is ANY difference in quality and fit.

One thing that did PO me though, neither the Al Knoch installation video nor the Romeo installation instructions deal with the dash pad end caps in any detail....they seem to assume those are a 'slam dunk' to install as a final step and they certainly are not. My only issue with the Romeo pad was getting the dash end caps installed without crinkles and that was the result of my inexperience and lack of more detailed instructions, not the product.

Here is the recent posting I did on this topic: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ht=pad+dash+c1

Default Dash pad

Just did my 59 pad/windshield
Here's the story. Bought my 1st one from Corvette Central and it came from Romeo Eng. Since this was the first time I did a pad, I didn't know what "fit" meant. In any event this pad didn't fit. The curves were to sharp and I was about 1 to 2 inches short at the end caps. I played with this for 2 days before I gave up. Called CC and then got a call from Romeo Eng. very helpful, we talked and he agreed to send another one. In the mean time, Wilcox had a sale on them for $300. I talked to Ernie at Wilcox and decided to buy my 2nd pad. This one fit perfectly. I now know what "fit" means. I also received the newer Romeo pad but didn't want to take the chance on it not fitting again. So I now have two uninstalled pads, one cut and trimmed that didn't fit and one untouched that I wasn't sure about. (Also one installed)

Default Pad

I don't have any of the paper work that came with the pad but I believe it came from Corvette America in Reedsville Pa (?). I also had talked with the owner, who I believe is a guy named Ernie. Very nice guy, talked for over 1/2 hour. Said that they had worked for months making sure that the molds were correct. Offered to walk me through the installation over the phone if I needed it.

Plasticman,

The pad is made by Corvette America and yes we did test fits on these pads to make corrections. They fit great!

We have some views on our site of a few of the pads we installed. I pasted the main picture below.
