Default '58

I ordered a '58 Vette in November of '57. I was trading in a '55 210, 2 dr hd tp. Had been married since that august and was living out of town with my bride. When we got home that night after placing the order there was a phone call from my mother that I had been drafted. Needless to say, the order was cancelled. After 4 kids, a lot of debt and years of hard work, last year we finally got our '58. I almost forgot, born in 1935.

I'm 37. Had the '59 six years and the '62 for four. I don't have much history with either car. Pretty much slapped them together and got 'em back on the road.

Raced the 59 at LACR, won a trophy round once with it.

After thrashing on the 62 all night, I was still bolting stuff on the morning of my wedding. We've driven the 62 to Vegas and back twice, been on (2) Car Craft Anti-Tours, to Graceland, and the National Corvette Museum. I raced the 62 at LACR (including the last day it was open), California Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Beechbend Race Park.

I'm just a driver, not an enthusiast. I neither wax nor trailer my car, except when I break it...

I bought my 62 in Feb. 1976, I was 21, I'm now 54. I get attached to cars, I also have a 71 El Camino I bought new in May 71 and a 81 Corvette I bought new in Nov. 81, plus some other cars I've had for over 20 years.

First starting driving my 59 in 1967, Senior in high school, bought it from my brother for $1.00, he bought it used in 1960, IN 1965 he bought a new 65 Vette ,as the 59 had a cracked block. Put a short block in 67. Now I,m 59 and will soon retire, first order of business is to rebuild the old girl as she has been on the road since birth.

A 57 was my dream car from age 16, first Corvette I saw.

Had other Corvettes for many years, finally bought my 57 in 2000 at age 60.

Got my 62 at 17, restored it and had it in it's first indoor show (Corvette Expo, Oklahoma) before I was 20.

I am way past 20 now.

This may be the year I start drinking. 16,000+ days of sobriety, that seems like enough.
