If you get an AIM, buy the index also, it will save you from just flipping through the book looking forthe section you need.

looking closer at the carb pic i think that is the stamp pad at the extreme right bottom of the pic. take a pic of that pad and also the front of the head from in front of the engine. we may be able to tell the head and block.

Well, there was no number on the stamp pad, which I think I found ...it's close to the front right freeze plug, right? So, crap, it may not even be a 327! I just bought a friggin souped up Bubba mobile. I'm not really a numbers guy, but I was hoping to at least have a higher horsepower 327.
Ok fellas, thanks alot for all this info. More to come later.
By the way, best place to buy the AIM and index?
Good night.

I got my AIM & index from Ecklers. A 350 makes more torque than a 327, and the 0010 is a good block.

The stamp pad is in front of the passenger side valve cover, you can see it from above.

having a 350 is not a bad thing. you bought a car with that front spoiler, hooker side pipes?, NOM, it's not a NCRS car, but a clean fun driver hot rod, so just enjoy it. it is a clean car that needs a little detail work. there are a LOT of non-NCRS guys here. OH, by the way is a 4speed? hurst shifter? (more fun)...

I'll go check out the front of the right valve cover 6 inches down on the pass. side. Uh, do I look from above or below? Oh well, I'll try anyway.

Mechron: You wouldn't consider unretiring, would you?
the 0010 i believe is a common 350 block #, that is a casting #. not a stamp #. the 0010 block is good. you have bought a nice car from what i have seen, don't sweat the small stuff...

Is the throttle return spring going to the radiator hose clamp ? Odd angle too - think I'd rework that.

For the life of me I can't see any numbers stamped anywhere in front. But I thought this was interesting. The timing numbers shoe at 8 before (TDC)? I'll keep looking. The schematic is great but in my car, there's nothing in those positions.

The stamp pad is on the opposite side of where the timing tab is just a little higher.. See USALT1's pic..

If you found the pad and it's blank, it's probably an indicator that the engine was decked during a rebuild and the numbers were machined off. No big loss in this case being a replacement engine.

Most likely it's been decked. Here's a pic of what I think is the stamp pad slightly left of center. Sorry about the blur. Well, today I'm off to talk with car dudes. Talk with y'all later.

Astrdokk,
I think the stamp pad in question is circled in the pic below. Are there any letters and numbers here?
Looks like you're havin' fun now!
