Default Clock repair

I want to take the clock apart in my '62 to clean the points. How does one remove the hand setting ****? Do you hold the shaft with a needle nose pliers and unscrew the ****?

Dave,
I'm no sure if it is the same with a 62 but that is exactly how mine comes off (65). I can't imagine it being any different.

When I rebuilt mine I remember holding the stem with a small needle nose and my **** was on there pretty good ( I'm sure since new) so I actually covered the know with a small piece of cloth to protect it and used a small pliar to loosen it.

I did it one hour ago, exactly that, except the thread is right hand (clock dated '60), see my recent post "watch repair"

Going through the same thing, mine comes off pretty easy but how does the cover on the back come off?

Thanks,

Never, I figured it out.

How about cleaning the points I can't tell were they are.
