Would like to know what others are using for non-original drop base air cleaners. A PO butchered the original by cutting clearance holes for a Holley double pumper and many years ago I picked up an aftermarket model that while does fit, it has an embossed Holley logo that I don't like and I can only fit a 2" high filter element in it while I think others have been able to go taller. I have a Edelbrock Performer manifold which I believe many others also run on their small blocks and a newer Holley 750. I also have a insulating spacer plus heat shield that totals 1/2" under the carb.

I found this which may allow me to use a taller filter element since it's the outer front edges of the existing round cover that contacts the reinforcing ribs of the hood. Thoughts?

I may be in the same boat with our C2. I want to use the dual snorkel air cleaner but not sure if there is enough clearance with the aftermarket alum intake.

The base that brick white posted is from a 67-69 Z/28. Or a 68-72 L-88 (You can use 67 L-88 and it doesn’t have the valve cover vent) and it is the lowest drop air cleaner out there. And it clears a double pumper without issue. Usually… I have had one that contacted the secondary accelerator pump spring, but more than 1/2 dozen more that worked perfectly.

That's what I have in chrome, at least the best I can tell. After looking at the model from ebay that brickwhite posted, I decided to have a closer look at the clearance to throttle linkage that I have with mine and see that I'm really as far down as I can go. I just need to find another without a logo on it so I can put the my custom decals on it. And while I'd like to have more than 2 inches in filter element height, I'm not after high rpm performance with this engine so I'll just have to be satisfied with what I have.
