58 voltage regulator question
I just got my carbs back from daytona parts, installed them and set everything up to specs.Seems my system is overcharging. If I remember correctly,I should be able to adjust the regulator.Anyone know how to do it. Thanks Tom

Yes. Run the engine for 15 minutes at about 1600 RPM with the voltage regulator cover on. Stop engine, connect volt meter to battery, remove regulator cover. Restart engine and run at 1600 RPM.
Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to increase spring tension and raise voltage, and vice versa. Final adjustment should always be made by turning screw clockwise to assure contact between screw head and spring support.
Recommended voltage is 13.8 to 14.3

The '61 Passenger Car Manual has a procedure on how to set the 'gaps' for, and clean up, the contact points - I tried it and had no luck with it and would up buying a new one and all is well now. Still investigating a solid state conversion (and yes for a generator car) but had to send it back for a fix so I don't know if it will really work.

58 overcharging
Hooked up a volt meter to my 57and 58 tonight. 57 is good around 13.5 volts running. 58 over 16 to 17 volts running. It's such a PITA to get to the 58 Reg. I took it off and connected it to the 57 seems okay on the 57.... Think it might be my Generator. I have the generator off now is there away or an oldtimer shop can bench test it... Any advise is appreciated.. Thanks Tom
