Default Flaming River Front End Components

I'm updating a 67 Pro Street roadster that will have a 555 Aluminum Brodix motor (ala ZL1) that should be approximately the weight of a SBC iron motor. I'm looking at installing Flaming River's rack and pinion set-up, a tilt column, and perhaps one of their steering wheels.

Anyone have any experience with these aftermarket R&P syatems?

The F/R uses the stock tie rod ends so bump steer and Ackerman problems should not occur.

Should I buy the power steering version given this aluminum motor or will manual suffice?

I appreciate any opinions or experiences--

Thanks-Dandy Don

Still looking for any comments on other rack and pinion units; Steeroids, Flaming River, Unisteer?

Thanks-Dandy Don

I had Ackerman problems as a teen-ager, but it cleared up. Seriously,
I have a ZL-1 in my '65. Fortunately it has factory PS which works great (had Guldstrand rebuild box once upon a time) Fellow club member/mechanic installed a Steeroids unit on a small block 64; didn't exactly drop on. Needed substantial drive & adjust. Seems like there
would be a lot less room to bend the double universal joint connection
around a big block.

Lots of people are bragging on the Jeep box conversion. Of course, its a power steering unit.
