C1 - Convertible Top Tab Snap?
ok...here it is
Does anyone have a photo of where this attaches to? I have the small leather pieces but realized I didn't have these tabs. Now that I know what I am missing, where do they go? Photo anyone?
thanks, Herb

Those sliders go on the end of the tabs. They in turn snap onto a button that is on the top of your door opening.
Years ago, some reproduction vinyl tabs had simple snaps on the ends. The snaps "snap" onto the button on the door opening.
However originally the snap on the tab was really this slider that you have pictured in your post. The idea is this:
Snap the slider onto the button, and then if you open the deck lid without unsnapping it, it slides off the button.
God I hope that makes sense.

Good on you, Jeff but a larger image of the tab would help. So, tomorrow (Wed.) I'll photo both sides of one of my tabs on my '61 and post it for Herb. Unless, of course, someone beats me to it.

On the flat lip of the deck lid, where the trim screws for your chrome pieces are, should be 2 holes that sheet metal screws threaded into. The screws penetrate the vinyl and thread into the deck.
Herb I just reread this thread and I'm confused about what you want.
The metal tab you show in your first post should be part of the leather tab (vinyl on my car)
The vinyl/leather tab attaches to the decklid with screws.

Oh. Ok. Open your deck lid.

that tab that I show, where does it go? That is what I need....and I didn't realize that the other end of the the leather tab that I have gets screwed into the soft top lid....but now I do...so I need to know where and how that snap I show at the top goes and is attached.....
I see from your "door panel repair" thread that you have leather tabs on your car right now. It looks like they have normal snaps on the ends.
Is this correct?
If so, that's wrong.
The metal bit in your first post of this thread, goes in PLACE of the typical circular snap.
Hold on tight, I'm going to go uncover the 62 and take a picture...
Top of my reproduction tabs (warped with age and heat)
Bottom showing the sliding snap
Mounting to the deck lid

So, if you go to www.corvettecentral.com and search for part number
341217 you'll find the 4 screws that hold the leather to your deck lid
341218 you'll find what they sell as the snaps that you are missing, although they don't look like the originals from my 62

The sliding snap was found on Power Top Corvette only at first because you dint have to get out of the Corvette to raise the top or un-nap the vinyl tabs . The soft top lid opened by hydraulic, just pull the top switch .

341218 is correct, they attach to the body as illustrated in one of the pictures. The clip attached to the vinyl strap slides over 341218. You all have it correct.
The vinyl strap covers the exposed soft top mechanism on either side
