I would describe a kit as having all of the following three properties:
1. It comes with all the parts needed to complete
2. The parts all fit together properly and, when assembled, will work properly.
3. It comes with instructions.
If you accept this description of a kit, then there is no Grand Sport kit out there.
Building one of these cars is an enormous time and money sink. It requires a high level of commitment and the successful builder will be very good at innovating and fabricating (certainly by the end of the project if not at the beginning).
It's not a project for everyone.

Spending some time in the search features here and then extensively with certain members and you will get a wealth of information
There are many pro/con remarks made by GS experts concerning individual aftermarket GS's that you owe it to yourself to check them out

I have two reproduction Grand Sports. I built one and rescued another. Here, then, is my perspective

Jim is exactly correct. Building a GS is NOT like doing a Cobra kit car where everything you need is included and it goes together easily. I had nearly 1500 hours in mine (not counting paint, which I farmed out), with LOTS of engineering and fabrication. If you don't have those skills, consider something else.

There was a GS for sale at Kissimmee. I think it was Mongoose. Didn't scrutinize the car - but I believe they were asking $85K.
If only I had more money and more space - a GS would be on the wish list.

Almost done, I built mine with the parts from Mid America Industries, Jeff Leecch (309)787-5119
As mentioned a lot of work but worth it.

We build the closest replica to the original available anywhere, using the orginal suspension geometry and frame. We offer both completed cars as well as kit cars in both the coupe and roadster models. We also offer the standard nose configuration as well as an aero nose configuration. Check us out at www,duntovmotors.com

I like the way Mid America does their cars, but I paid Jeff Leech for a tube frame 2 years ago and still have not seen it. When I call him he
promises me he will get on it but seems to never happen. Very frustrated at this point. Does anyone on this forum live near his shop or ever visit him? He has my 64 coupe and not sure if he has even started on it. I guess I will have to make another trip to Moline. Sure would like my car back!

Rest assured you aren't the first person to experience delivery problems from Jeff.

If any of you guys know him , what advice would you give me in handling this situation? I am 650 miles away and afraid one day I will call
and get a disconnected number. Am I wrong in thinking this way or should I be worried? He seems like a super nice person and he has always been friendly and apologetic, but hey I would really like to get my car on the street. I have been to his shop and he had some really
awesome looking replicas underway. I just want mine to be one of them.
Any help or comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
