Default A little OT - Pics (lots) of my C3 Resto

There's been many posts here in the C1/2 forum on resto rods and mods and many great examples by a number of members. This is my version of the ultimate C3. I finished it last weekend and now ready for some road tests. I called it FrankenSport because we brought an old Corvette back to life and I used parts from every generation Corvette (c1 and c2 emblems and miscellaneous parts, C3 body, C4 suspension, C5 motor, C6 wheels). You might also say something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue - but that would be too cliche'. ;

Although I used a C3 body, there is little difference in building one with a C3 vs. C1/2 except of course the look and the price of a donor and bodywork/resto. Much of the same work and principles apply. So if no one minds, I thought I'd post a few pics. Some may have seen these in the C3 general forum. The beauty fo the C3 rubber bumper, for those like me that like the look, is I paid $3k for the donor and sold some of the parts for over $2k. So for about a grand I got a donor body and parts with a clear title. Obviously you could never make that happen with a C1 or C2.

For the record, I believe in preserving an original car that makes sense and actually restored two 63's last year and both made Top-Flight. But some times it also makes sense to chop em up.

Started with this. Rotted frame, floorpans, and windshield frame:

Did some of this:

Add some of this:

And bring it all together:

I'm really impressed. How much horsepower? Love the frame and what you've filled it with.

You done good!!! The old Cadillac song from Johnny Cash came to mind as you were describing the years the parts came from. Thanks for taking pictures along the way and sharing.

I'm constantly amazed at the quality of the workmanship some many of you exhibit!

Thanks

Andy

Thanks to all for the comments. I had planned to build this car for some time and would be lying if I did not get a lot of inspiration from people like John McGraw, Rick Lagasse, 1CoolC2, Mecom Racer and others. The work they have done is over the top.

I had been posting this build in the C3 General Forum since last October when I started this build. Dozens of pictures in those threads if anyone is real bored and need something to fall asleep to.

Thanks again. Joe..

Joe,

Another New Yorker, the late, great Young Frankenstein monster Peter Boyle I think would definitely approve of FrankenSport

What tunes would he play in it?

Probably the Beatles... John Lennon was his best man.
