Default Drag Strip Results are in!

Just thought I would share this even though it's not about my car.
My Uncle Mark's car which is in Corvette Fever this month, page 60-62, took his car to the dragstrip for the first time ever:
Car is a 67 Convertible with the GM 502/502HP crate motor and he ran the following:
3 runs - l - 13.75 / 2 - 12.81 / 3 - 12.21

Not too bad considering he was running on 235/70/15 Michelins!

Just thought I would share,
Tim

Thanks for posting.

It would be interesting to know:

1) rear gears
2) transmission
3) tires
4) drag-racing experience level of your uncle
5) speed at end of 1/4 for all three runs

Cheers.

Did he have to do anything to get those BIG tires to fit?

He had to put different trailing arms in the rear. BIG, , I guess it is big considering most have 205's or 215's!

I hate mustangs,

I know the 502 is rated at 502 hp, but has the car been dynoed yet? If so, what was the rear wheel horsepower?

Never been dynoed but I would guess it's making close to it's HP numbers if it's running those 1/4 mile times with that tranny and those gears!

With some respectable gears I would think this boy should run in the mid to low 11's. I had thought about pulling my 427 out and having some fun with the 502/502 setup, but I was hoping for better than 12's. Maybe that Merlin big block Chevy 509 is the way to go.
