Default Headlamp Detail Questions

I'm working on my headlamp assemblies and ran into a few detail questions.

One of my headlamp bezels has screw holes in the face of the bezel in the corners, the other one doesn't. The one without the holes also has a reinforcement spot welded on the inside around one of the lower mounting holes, the one with the holes in the face does not. There does not appear to be antthing for a screw through these face holes to thread into. Which of my bezels is correct for 65?

I have seen several different finishes on headlight motor housings. The judging guide says they are to be painted black, but the NOS originals I've seen for sale, and new fereigh made, are both gold cad plated. Mine were painted, along with the rest of the motor housings, so I do not trust mine for deciding what color they should be. What is the consensus?

The manual discs for spinning the headlamp motor armatures apeared to be gold cad on mine. Is this correct?

Thanks all
RGS

The one with the holes in the face is a 63 only bezel. That's a good eBay item as they are no longer made.

Can't help with the other question.

Someone else told me that also, but the motor housing is made from stamped steel, so I would expect some sort of finish on it. I guess it could be bare steel.

Correct - the motor cases are "natural".

So the 65 Judging Guide is wrong?

Any thoughts on the finish of the thumbwheels?

I don't know which edition you have, but if it says the motors (or any other parts) are painted, it's incorrect; the motor housings are unpainted "natural" steel. Don't recall offhand what the thumbwheels are supposed to be.

I must have confused myself between my brother's commercially "restored" and black painted motor housings and the Judging Guide. When I went back and read it again, it clearly says "natural".

Thanks all
