If you are not necessarily looking for "performance" headers, I would suggest the Sanderson QP1000 cast steel exhaust manifolds. Whatever you use you will probably have to modify the exhaust pipe connection.

Back during the Civil War days, headers for 56-62 Vettes were as common as dirt, but I don't know who, if anyone, makes them anymore.

Hooker is still making headers for the 55-62 Vette
Part #-
2108-1HKR..... 1.75 diameter with 3 inch collector.(Full length)
2456-1HKR..... 1.625 diameter w/ 3 inch collector. (Full length)
The headers above are ceramic coated... they have a painted
version available also at a reduced cost.
You might try the Stahl Headers and Headman Headers websites
also.... both are older header companies who may have Vintage Vette
headers still available.

There are a good selection of performance headers available. What is your intended use? My experience has been that the higher the performance wanted generally the tougher the installation. I used a set of Hedman headers this year and they required the least amount of work. If you consider the Hedmans I can help talk you through it. If you want top competion headers, you would want to consider Stahl and the top of line Hookers.

Drifting
Hi guys, My quest for headers 2 years ago came up with this:
Hooker-2108HKR Super Comps They list lots of restrictions. Main ones are no angle plugs, no 168 tooth flywheel, no power glide.
Hooker-2456HKR no angle plugs, no turbo 400
Flowtech 11106 small ports, no way to fit a C-1, although listed to fit.
Hedman race header 65310 fender well, batt relocation, slip fit, under frame, angle plugs yes, 1 7/8"x3.5"
Hedman street header, the ones finally went with, 1 5/8"x3", almost under the frame, angle plugs yes (at least they fit my brodix T-1 cnc heads ), large ports, I made adaptor plates to go from D-port to round header port. I bought them thru Jet-Hot. They are the only ones I know that coat inside also. Pictures below. I hope this helps

Burning Brakes
The 2108's do work. I have a ZZ4 crate pretty tight install. no probs on the plugs, tight below by bellhousing... Removing the oil filter is a challenge, but doable. Realize that the restrictions generally are looking at a very easy fitment. No modifications needed however, just removing a few parts for access. Get the coated ones. They look better

I never had a problem. Get the bracket that is made to work with the header (It's a separate piece). It's just as strong and sturdy as the original. I had mine for over 12 years. Just use slightly longer bolts for the bracket.

I just picked-up a set of Patriot Performance Ceramic Coated headers for the 62. They have 1 5/8" primaries, and a 2 1/2" collector. P/N 8025-1
When we got the car, I replaced the manifolds with a set of used, unknown brand, 1 5/8" X 3" headers. These fit the car well, but the pass side collector bolt access leaves something to be desired. I also had a 2 1/2" mandrel bet exhaust made for the car. Power picked up noticably, and we got another 2 - 3 MPG.
I was quoted $225 to have the used headers coated. I will be swapping our rebuilt 327 over the next two weekends. I am wanting to lower the engine at this time. My current headers don't leave much room, to lower the engine. I'm hoping the motre compact design of the Patriot headers will allow the engine to be lowered more. If there isn't a noticable difference as to how far I can lower the engine, I will run the existing headers for now. If there is any interest, I will post back with my results.

Wes,
Just a caution on lowering the engine:
Beware of the driveshaft hitting the X frame when the rear end and shocks are at full extension. I am assuming you will be keeping the rear axle pinion and trans output angles matched.
Ausvet,
As for headers, I have unknown brand on my 62 (but look similar to the Hedman street shown above by VETROD62) , and had to tack weld and strengthen the aftermarket alternator bracket (running an alternator, rather than a generator) in a couple of spots to keep the belt alignment straight. These have been on the 62 since before I purchased the Vette 8 years ago, and have had zero issues.
Good luck,
Plasticman

Plasticman, thanks for the heads-up. I was planning to limit the drop to less than 1/2". I will pay attention to the driveshaft if I lower the engine. BTW, I think I read some where that the 61s and 62s had spacers between the crossmember and the frame to lower the rear of the trans about 1/2". Wes

Wes,
Yep, I had 1/2" spacers when I had the Muncie (which should be the same for the original B-W trans also). Have seen the same 1/2" on other 62 Vettes, so it must be the "magic" number.
