Default Radar Detectors - which brand?

Had my old Escort 4600 detector start giving false bleeps every second or so (has worked reliably for many years). Very annoying, and guess it is time for an upgrade anyway.

What detectors are favored these days by the forum members?

Don't particularly want to get into the discussions of usage, morality, etc. of having detectors. Just a question on what are the best for the money these days.

I suppose I should search out the "radar detector" forum?

Escorts newest model uses GPS technology to rememeber and eliminate false alarms.

The more you use it, the false alarms drop and drop.

Valentine, an excellent detetector, still prodices alot of false alarms.

It will not do that if you adjust the sensitivity.. Valentine is the inventor of the Escort and now has his own gig... Valentine is the hot ticket, it has saved me at least twice a day for the last 18 months....

Tintin - who now speeds with impunity...

As a bonus you can send them in every couple of years and have it updated for a nominal fee

"Coparison"? Now there is a freudian slip (when talking about radar detectors)!

Thanks guys (Valentine 1 appears the WINNER).

This thread would indicate that you are choosing to speed. Heaven forbid we start a speeding thread

I just want to pay my respects to any officer I "see" (either via my Mark 1 eyeball or by radar detector).

V-1 saved me just yesterday as I drove my Ferrari a "little" over the speed limit. Had it for a couple of years, I'm a believer!

V-1. There are other detectors out there that work well but you will not want to live without the bogey counter and directional arrows. Once you experience these two features you will never want to live without them. Saved my bacon serveral times when the enemy was running multiple revenue enhancement traps close together.

Valentine 1

I swap it between two Corvettes, two motorcycles, and 5 other cars. I rarely move a car accross the street without its protection.
