Outside mirror glass replacement
I purchased the correct date coded glass for mine. Recently I read an article on how to pull out the snap ring and peen the inside bracket to tighten the head. I can't remember if it was posted here or in the Restorer or Corvette Enthusiast.
Damn I'm getting to hate this CRS disease. Can anyone help?

I like the NCRS. I like the NCRS members. They are helpful Vette guys, just like the rest of us. I'm not a paying member, so I have no say so, or input in their business. But, I hate their webpage. Yellow text, frames, navigation, etc...The majority of forums today use the software like here on CF. I visit several other forums that use this software. You would think with all the membership, and other funds the NCRS receives, they would update it.
Maybe they just want to stay correct with the early day's of the internet and perform no upgrades beyond as delivered condition.
Hint...Hint...Hint...

Thanks, Donald. The tip to push in on the glass helps. So far I can't get the retaining ring to pop out. There is not enough gap to grab it with needle nose pliers. Probably a lot of crud behind it. I beleive it's original and the glass date is Sept. 63.

DONE !!!
This is why the Forum rocks. After struggling to get the glass out I asked for help and you guys responded. I had been trying to pry the snap ring with a 1/16" and a smaller screwdriver blade and it wouldn't budge. The idea to use a pair of needle nose didn't seem feasible until Donalds post to NCRS. The suggestion to push down on the glass helped but, the screwdriver still wouldn't remove the ring.
By pushing the glass down I could see the gap might be "tall" enough for a miniature needle nose which I don't have. One of my retired neighbors had a small enough pair from his former job at AT&T. Job done. It did take several good hits with a small ball pein hammer to tighten the head pivot.
One note of caution I forgot about the 3 small springs which went sailing.
